AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM OUR SERVICE DEPARTMENT
REGARDING PROPER MACHINE OPERATION:

The Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) and Diesel Particular Filter (DPF) serve to reduce hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, and other toxic gases. These gases are converted to harmless carbon dioxide and water. The DPF also traps Particulate Matter (PM). When a specific amount of PM has accumulated in the DPF muffler, it is necessary to refresh the DPF muffler by burning the PM inside it. This burning off work is called “regeneration”.

Actual PM accumulation is a calculation based on throttle positions, time and fuel consumption. DPF regeneration will be called for, regardless of how machine is operated, after 13 Gal (calculated) of fuel are consumed. Generally, the lower the engine speed is, the lower the exhaust gas temperature is, so the PM contained in exhaust gas will not be burnt, and begins to accumulate. Therefore, don’t idle unnecessarily.

Changing engine speeds greatly increases the amount of both calculated and actual PM accumulation. Set the engine at a speed suitable to not lug the engine and leave it there. Recommended engine speeds of 2000 RPM or higher will maximize After Treatment System (ATS) efficiency. To extend operating time to reach regeneration, and to avoid DPF muffler trouble, make sure to observe the following DO’S and DON’TS:

DO’S:

Once engine has reached operating temperature, raise the engine RPM’s to a suitable range for the task.

DON’T:

Run engine at low idle for extended periods.Raise and lower the engine RPM’s frequently.

DO’S:

Once the Engine RPM’s are set for the task, leave RPM’s at this setting

DON’T:

Frequently start and stop the engine If leaving the operators seat for short tasks.

DO’S:

Return to neutral, set the parking brake as recommended in operator manual, allow the engine to continue running at the set speed for the overall task.

DON’T:

Begin regeneration with less than 2 bars of fuel shown on the gauge.

DO’S:

Keep the fuel tank full as often as possible, less than two bars of fuel may allow the unit to shut down during regeneration.

DON’T:

Interrupt the regeneration cycle once started.

DO’S:

Allow all regenerations to fully complete, interrupting regeneration may cause ATS and/or engine damage.

DON’T:

Ignore warning signs.

DO’S:

Watch for warning icons to appear on the dash, immediately follow the recommended steps for each warning level.

Interrupting the regeneration cycle or continued operation by ignoring the warning signs may cause ATS and/or engine damage. Failure to address operational conditions may result in continued ATS issues.
